Introduction & what is social drama

Introduction

The task that I have been set is to create an opening sequence for a film. I have chosen the genre of social drama. I have decided to pick Social drama as I feel every audience can relate as we all face the everyday problems in our society. This genre also opens up and introduces new cultures and groups of people to different audiences and normally makes you question our morals we live by, being right or wrong they are all relevant to us as humans. Some main issues social drama tries to put across are problems such as Poverty, bullying, death and the short term, long term affects of war.

What is Social drama

Social drama refers to a piece of film that describes the conflicts and social interaction created by people. It influences the audience to change their ways, perception and views. Social drama is portrayed  through a way of realism to make the matter seem much more believable and making the subject serious and relatable to the audience. I feel this type of genre can cover all subject matters and can more or less appeal to all audiences depending on what film is covering as some themes of this genre can cover sex, violence, drug use and so on therefore themes such as that I feel there would be an age range of 16+ or anyone with a mature outlook on themes such as these. social drama tends to be open to both genders and concentrate more on themes than sub genres. Social drama films prefer to concentrate on just one character to not make it to confusing, as if there was no specific person the film was concentrating on it would seem to be more of a documentary.
